Frequently asked questions
Answers about who SealTrack is for, how to get started free, how it works with your GPS provider, how your customers pay you, the phone app, security and RECTS.
- Who is SealTrack for?
- SealTrack is for companies that supply, fit, track and recover GPS electronic cargo seals: e-seal vendors and operators. Each company gets its own workspace. Their customers, such as clearing agents, transporters and exporters, use a portal that the vendor invites them to.
- Is it free?
- Getting started is free: you can create a workspace and set it up without paying anything. SealTrack later charges a small fee for each seal request invoice your workspace creates, billed once a month. The Terms explain exactly how it works, and we are happy to talk through it in a demo.
- How do my customers pay me?
- Your customers pay you directly, and SealTrack never holds the money. Connect your own Safaricom Daraja account and customers can press Pay now on an invoice in their portal, or your team can send an M-Pesa prompt, with the money going straight into your own Paybill or till. Each payment is recorded and releases the seals by itself. Bank transfers and cash are confirmed by your accountant.
- Which GPS providers does it work with?
- Uffizio (Trakzee) today. Each vendor connects their own account, so your devices and credentials stay yours. Support for other providers is planned.
- Does SealTrack connect to RECTS?
- Not yet. SealTrack is designed around RECTS requirements and helps you keep the records that compliance depends on, but a direct connection to RECTS is planned and not live. We will not describe it as integrated until it is.
- Do I need to be KRA approved to use SealTrack?
- SealTrack is software, not an approval, and it does not make a company approved. Whether your company is approved to supply or operate e-seals is between you and the authorities. SealTrack helps you run the operation and keep the records.
- Is there a phone app?
- Yes, an Android app. Staff use it for scanning seals, field delivery and arming with photos, and customers can use it to follow their trips. An iPhone version is not available yet.
- Can different staff have different access?
- Yes. Every workspace starts with ten ready-made roles, from CEO to Service Center Technician, and a person can hold several. You can edit what each role may do and create your own. Staff can also be limited to the locations they work at.
- How is our data protected?
- Workspaces are isolated from each other, access is by role, stored credentials are encrypted, two-step sign-in is available, every important action is written to an audit log and the database is backed up daily. See the Security page for detail.
- What happens after I sign up?
- You create a workspace and confirm your email. We review every new vendor workspace before it goes live. Then you add your team, locations, rates and seals, connect your GPS provider and invite your customers.
- Which countries and currencies does it support?
- SealTrack runs from Kenya today. A workspace can have any number of locations, including border points and ports, and can price in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan shillings or francs, and US dollars. Fees to SealTrack are billed in Kenya shillings.
